What do I wear to church?2019-07-04T20:58:15+02:00

We have no dress code or expectations. You can come in a business suit or in shorts. It’s not the clothes that are important, but the inner attitude.

Our aim is to be able to fully engage with the service and each other without being distracted by thoughts such as money or the right clothing.

Do I have to bring money to the service?2019-07-04T20:56:03+02:00

We are financed by what our members voluntarily transfer to the community account. We do not take a collection (money) during the service itself. All food and drinks are also free of charge. So you don’t need to bring any money to the service. Our aim is to be able to fully engage with the service and each other without being distracted by thoughts such as money or the right clothing.

What do you actually think? Is that Christian?2019-04-28T08:45:08+02:00

We are an evangelical free church and essentially share the faith of all Christians in the world. As human beings, we are not capable of reaching God’s good standard on our own and being allowed to be together with him again here on earth and in eternity. This separates us from God, the source of all life, forever. This separation from life means death. So we need help to be with him again. The problem is that no one who is separated from God can “pay” for someone else. It would be like someone having millions in debt to a bank and someone else coming in to pay for that debt. But the other would be just as indebted. The bank would rightly say: Pay back your own debt before you stand up for someone else!

Jesus came to overcome precisely this separation. As the only person who has lived entirely according to God’s standard, he is completely united with him. There is no separation, no guilt between him and his father. So he was in a position to pay for others – and he did. With the price that separation from God (from the source of life) means: with death – on the cross! But this death had no right to keep him, because he could not bring any charges against him. He was the first person to return from the dead and is now reunited with God. He offers this payment to every person who wants to return to God and live according to God’s good standards (which are described in the Bible ). The community of these people is called Christians.

That’s the kind of community we are. Together with millions of Christians around the world, we believe in salvation and reunification through Jesus’ actions on the cross. We live this faith together and invite everyone to ask us about it, discuss it with us, drop by and explore God’s plans for our lives.

The Bible is the source that God has given us to get to know him again. We do not claim to have a specific or solely correct doctrine, but we are learners in relationship with Jesus, the Spirit of God and the Father himself. We are open to correction and seek fellowship with other Christians or non-Christians.

Can I just join in?2019-04-27T13:20:49+02:00

Sure – you can simply attend every meeting – get to know the people, join in the discussions, ask questions and more. If you are unsure about anything – simply write to us using the contact form or via Facebook.

So why another church?2019-04-27T13:11:53+02:00

Every community has its own culture, its own priorities and characteristics. We see room in Deggendorf for a modern community of the center. Our vision is not only a contemporary church service, but also a church life that meets the people of the city outside of Sunday. Our aim is to encourage and liberate individuals so that we can then take responsibility together – to see the needs in the city and help where we can.

But don’t such free churches already exist here?2019-04-27T13:11:35+02:00

That is correct. There are already various free churches in Deggendorf and we have held talks with them. Our goal is good cooperation with the churches in the city – we have also met with the two regional churches. As Christians, we know that we are connected to each other through Jesus and God’s word, the Bible.

Free church – what is that? Free from whom?2019-04-27T13:11:16+02:00

Free churches are church communities that are organized throughout Germany and are often recognized as corporations, but are not centrally administered and controlled. Each local congregation organizes its own worship service and congregational life within the framework of its local culture. So we would also like to see which church and worship culture suits Deggendorf.

How long have you been around?2019-04-27T13:00:26+02:00

Pulsschlag Deggendorf is an evangelical free church and belongs to the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches (Baptists) along with 800 other churches in Germany. Baptists have existed worldwide for around 400 years. There are currently 50 million Christians among them. Together with the other forms of church, we see ourselves as part of the Deggendorf and worldwide community of Christians.
